The unfortunate thing about impulse buying is that there’s no planning involved. Which usually means a week after you make your impulse purchase, you’ll find the same thing you purchased for half the price or you’ll find something much better for the same price. Usually.

Kattni – 1 :: Ubuntu – OWNED.
The onboard NIC is currently enabled.
Still having the same problems as yesterday.
First random attempt was to add pci=routeirq to the end of the kernel line. This did nothing.
I booted into the oldest kernel (there were three on the list including the newest one), and ran:
lspci | grep -i ethernet
which returned:
0000:04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd.: Unknown Device 4361 (rev 17)
0000:06:00.0 Ethernet controller: National Semiconductor Corporation DP83815 (MacPhyter) Ethernet Controller

Kattni – 0 :: Ubuntu – 1
I tried to install electric sheep last week. And it wasn’t working, so I assumed that I was doing something wrong, since I remembered it being really simple, and nothing I was doing worked. So a few minutes ago, I asked Ken what you do to install electric sheep. And he told me. And I was doing it right. (I even just used the up arrow in terminal to go to the command I used last week.) So he looks at it, and I look at it, and he pokes around a little bit… And he says to me “Well evidently Warty doesn’t have it.” “But that’s Hoary.” “No it isn’t, this says Warty.”

Kyle said today: “You would have a great future in QA.”
He has no idea.
We got the new machines for our labs. They got here this morning. One of the people upstairs mentioned to me that there was some guy hanging around outside our labs with a bunch of new computer boxes on a cart. I said something to Terry about it and he got all irritated, saying that he had just talked to the building manager, Len, and Len had said that the shipping people would get back to us. When we got upstairs, Terry says, “What the hell are you doing to me… I just talked to Len, he said you would call.” “I did call,” the guy says. “What… like five minutes ago?” “From Hannah Hall.” (Hannah Hall is the building attached to our building. Meaning less than 5 minutes ago.) Heh.

Behold the wonder that is… Powerbook: Part 4.
Hot. Super hot. Much Mac luvin.
My laptop is now my shadow. Or perhaps more accurately it’s mine. My entire schedule is entered into the planner in my email program, all colour coded. OMG organisation! I’ve downloaded and installed all the Mac-equivilants of the programs I was using on my PC. I’ve pretty much got all the ins and outs down. Most of the shortcuts are either extremely self-explanatory or I remember them from the limited Mac experience ever so long ago. She’s already loaded up with a ton of new software. The music editting capabilities of and programs available for this computer are no where near ceasing to impress me.

Behold the wonder that is… Powerbook: Part 3.
I got dropped off at the house today by a friend. There on the front porch was a box.
Now, I need to pause for a moment here. I was painting with the music up very loud three days ago, and barely managed to hear the knocking on the door. Luckily I heard it just as the delivery guy was walking away with my printer. So he took the note off the door and I was able to sign for it. The 99$ printer.
